Supporting people with learning disabilities

The service is for adults with learning disabilities.

What does the service provide?

The service provides:

  • Health education workshops for people with learning disabilities and their carers. These will help improve awareness of health issues and access to healthcare with the aim of offering more control and self-management of their health
  • Advice for people with learning disabilities and carers on health-related topics
  • Advocacy to enable people with learning disabilities and their carers to access health services
  • A range of easy-read material on health related matters, such as cancer screening, keeping healthy, having a balanced diet and topical issues e.g. how to survive a heat wave.

How do I access the service?

You or your carer/family can ask for a referral form either via the Harrow Mencap website or phone 020 886 98484.

Referrals can also be made from professionals in social care, health and education.
