Who is Adult Speech and Language Therapy for?
This service is for adults aged 18 and above with:
- acquired communication, language and speech difficulties
- swallowing problems
- disorders of fluency or voice
Patients must have a Harrow GP and be a Harrow resident.
What does the service provide?
The service provides assessment and management for patients working to maximise function, independence and quality of life. They provide programmes of care, advice and education. Therapists work directly with patients, their carers’ and families as needed.
The adult speech and language therapy department offers a range of specialist services to in-patients, out-patients and to people at home, or in residential or nursing homes and hospices.
How do I access the service?
The adult speech and language therapy service accepts written referrals from GPs, consultants and other health professionals. Patients requiring a home visit should be referred to the STARRS team in Harrow.
The service is provided by London Northwest Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWHT) and is available from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. For further information visit www.lnwh.nhs.uk/services
